Using your Portable Air Conditioner All Year Round

A portable air conditioner can be a godsend during the sweltering English summer, but they can be a big investment to only use a handful of weeks throughout the year. However! Did you know that air conditioners come with a range of additional features that can make them useful all year round?

1.    Fan only mode

If a cooling breeze will be enough to dissipate heat without needing to use a chemical refrigerant, portable air conditioners have a ‘fan only mode’. This means that it will simply run the fan, without engaging the process of artificially cooling the air.

2.    Dehumidifying

When coming into damper months like autumn, your portable air conditioner can be used as a dehumidifier. This means it won’t be lowering the temperature in your home, but will be removing damp and mould causing moisture from the air. Wave goodbye to the festive condensation on your windows!

3.    Heating

Now this isn’t true of all portable air conditioners, but some models (like the DVAC10CHW) have an additional heat pump. This means that it can be used for cooling in the summer, and heating in the winter. They can be more expensive than an air conditioner that doesn’t come with a heat pump, but it means that the unit can be used more frequently throughout the year.
