How Do Air Curtain Heaters Work?

Air Curtains work by producing a controlled stream of air across an opening from the top of the door, towards the floor on the other side. This creates an air seal which protects the environment from contamination, while allowing smooth uninterrupted passage for people and equipment through the door. When the air curtain heater is switched on, air enters through the intake. The air is then transmitted to the fan housing and is accelerated by the fan. The fast-moving air then reaches a plenum, which evenly distributes the air along the discharge nozzle. The vanes in the nozzle create a uniform air stream with low turbulence. Lastly, the nozzle discharges the air stream to the floor. 80% of the air returns to the intake of the nozzle, and 20% goes in the opposite direction.

Do I Need An Air Curtain?

One benefit they have is energy savings through the control of heat transfer. They protect the inside temperatures of rooms in restaurants, businesses, and cafes. The main application for Air Curtains is in Commercial Climate Control, as they are used in businesses where people are going in and out of the door, with the potential for heat loss. During winter, the effects are losing warm air through an open door. Air Curtains effectively prevent temperature transfer, providing a comfortable temperature inside your business, despite having an open door.

Air Curtain heaters are also ideal for garages, mechanics, and workshop businesses, where large doors or access points are in constant use allowing you to comfortably leave these doors open for prolonged periods without wasting money on ineffective space heating.
