Compressor Dehumidifiers

There are 2 main types of dehumidifiers: compressor dehumidifiers and desiccant dehumidifiers.  Desiccant dehumidifiers are better for rooms that are below 10°c whereas compressor dehumidifiers are best in warmer, humid conditions. Compressor dehumidifiers generally have lower running costs and a higher capacity than equivalent desiccant models.

Compressor dehumidifiers are suitable for use in warm rooms because the compressor contains a refrigerant gas that cools condensing coils that draw the excess moisture out of incoming air. This collected moisture turns to water on the cold coils, which then drops down into the internal tank or drains through the hose.
