This extractor fan from Blauberg is part of their “CALM 100 dMEV” range, designed for continuous or intermittent operation in domestic wet-rooms, bathrooms or toilets. The “100” denotes the nominal duct size of 100 mm (4”) and the “dMEV” stands for decentralised Mechanical Extract Ventilation — meaning the unit is intended to provide ventilation on a continual or humidity-responsive basis rather than simply a simple on/off extraction fan. According to Blauberg, the CALM 100 dMEV TH model offers a mixed‐flow impeller, DC/low-energy motor and a maximum airflow around 28 l/s (≈ 101 m³/h) for the 100 mm version.
One of the key features is the built-in humidity sensor (humidistat) and run-on timer. The humidistat monitors relative humidity (RH) and activates higher extraction when humidity rises, helping prevent mould, condensation and poor air quality in bathrooms. The run-on timer ensures the fan continues to operate for a set period after the light or another trigger is switched off — keeping the space ventilated properly. This makes the unit a smart upgrade over standard extractor fans.
From an installation and performance standpoint: it connects to a standard mains supply (220-250 V) and is suitable for Zone 1 or Zone 2 bathroom environment when wired correctly, thanks to its protection rating (in some data shown as IP45 or IPX5) and built-in back-draught shutter. Additionally, because it uses a low-energy DC motor (for the dMEV range) it helps comply with newer Building Regulations concerning specific fan power (SFP) in constantly running systems, making it a very good option for more energy‐efficient or larger scale installations.
